All buildings - unless sealed and sterile - have dust in them. Dust can and often is a health concern, and (particularly acrid dust) can be extremely dangerous if inhaled regularly. Heavy dust can cause severe asthma attacks and even respiratory failure - and dust laden with mould spores or even lead or asbestos can be deadly. Dust is a serious health risk to the young, the elderly and those with respiratory illnesses.

Our dust monitors (pictured on right) take samples of the air in the dwelling and can report on the amount of dust particles in the atmosphere and can also allow us to determine what those dust particles are. Once we know the amount of dust in the air, we can set about both determining how and where it enters the property and can remove the dust from the air with our air scrubbers
We can eliminate or confirm the presence of two potentially lethal elements - lead and asbestos.

1. Measure - we measure the amount of dust in the air using our hand held real time dust monitors.
2. Test - After taking a sample of the dust in the indoor atmosphere, we test the samples to determine the presence of lead and asbestos.
3. Repair - Having established the presence of excessive dust levels we can assist in determining where the dust is most likely to be entering the dwelling and then repair the entry points.

Lead - Identifying lead in the dust in the indoor environment is critical as lead poisoning is a real threat to inhabitants. Our testing of the dust samples can quickly identify any lead tracings and our air scrubbers will quickly eiminate the lead dust from the air.

Asbestos - A known killer from even a single exposure to the airborne particles of asbestos, asbestos is most often located in roof cavities. Our samples of the dust found in the roof cavity can identify asbestos and, if required, Enviromaster has the necessary equipment to remove the dust permanently.


Dust sampling, testing and identification procedure

Mould needs to be both identified, treated and prevented. There is little point in removing the mould if the reason for the mould growth - moisture, humidity, lack of ventilation - is not repaired or reversed.

1. Identification

Our mould identification equipment is the most advanced in the industry so you can be assured we will identify any worrying issues with regard to mould in the built environment.

2. Measurement

Our aerosol monitors can test the amount of airborne particles in the indoor atmosphere and determine if they are in excess of the permissable particulate count as per recognised environmental standards. (0.55mg/m3)

3. Sample

If it is determined by our testing that the particulate count is elevated, we can trap and sample airborne particulates or take surface swabs and forward them for testing.

4. Laboratory testing

We can have airborne particulates and surface swabs tested and these laboratory tests can determine what type of mould has generated in the dwelling. Lab testing is an optional extra as the vaklue of determining the type of particulate or the type of dust particles is questionable. Often the presence of elevated particulate levels is enough to undertake remedial action without paying to determine the exact type of particulate.


1. Temporary dust removal
Dust is removed from the built environment on a temporary basis by vacuuming and airscrubbing. Vacuuming will remove dust from surfaces, carpet etc whilst airscrubbers will remove the more harmful airborne dust particulates.

2. Permanent dust removal
Permanent dust control can be achieved by installing built in air scrubbers (www.enviroairexchange.com.au)
